AFR 06: Rwanda Gorilla Tour & Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Kigali – Parc National des Volcans

Our Rwanda representative will receive you on arrival at Kigali Airport and transfer you to Parc Nationale Des Volcans. You will be accommodated at Mountain Gorilla Nest on bed and breakfast only.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Parc National des Volcans

After breakfast depart for primate tracking tour in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is a thrilling experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas in just few minutes, spend an hour with them, and be back at the lodge! Some gorilla families, however, are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is muddy and wet.

Day 3: Kigali – Nairobi

Breakfast and drive to Kigali. Visit Kigali Genocide Memorial Center if time allows. Transfer to Kigali Airport to board your Kenya Airways flight to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. Picked by our Kenyan representative and transferred to the Holiday Inn Hotel where accommodation is on bed and breakfast.

Day 4: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru

Breakfast and then drive down the escarpment via the floor of the Great Rift Valley to the Lake Nakuru. Late evening game drives in the park.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara

Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast and drive to Maasai Mara arriving by lunch time at Mara Sopa Lodge. After lunch proceed on an afternoon game drive.

Day 6: Masai Mara

Spend the whole day in the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives

Day 7: Masai Mara-Serengeti

0700 hrs. Check out with packed lunch and depart for Serengeti via Isabenia border. Meet your Tanzania driver guide and proceed to Serengeti to arrive late in the evening.

Day 8: Serengeti

Full day in Serengeti. Morning and afternoon game drives in the rolling grasslands studded with wildlife for as far as the eye can see National reserve. All meals and overnight at Serengeti Sopa

Day 9: Ngorongoro

Breakfast and check out. Drive to Ngorongoro with game drive en route in Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge. Arrive for lunch at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. Afternoon at Leisure.

Day 10: Ngorongoro

After breakfast descend down to the crater floor for ? day crater tour. Later return to your lodge. Later in the afternoon at leisure.

Day 10: Ngorongoro – Arusha

After breakfast, check out and drive to Arusha. Collect lunch boxes from Naura Springs

Hotel and drive to JRO for Precision Air to Dar es Salaam departing at 1100hrs

Arrive Dar Airport at 1250hrs. Connect your Zambia flight and arrive at Lusaka Airport at 1715hrs.

Our representative in Zambia will receive you at Lusaka Airport and transfer you to Cresta Golfview Hotel on Half Board.

Day 11: Lusaka and Victoria Falls

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lusaka Airport to catch your flight departing 0800hrs for Livingstone Airport. You arrive at Livingstone at 0900hrs.

Our Zambia representative will receive you at Livingstone Airport and transfer you to your lodge.

Day 12-13: Victoria Falls

Full day activities at Victoria Falls. All activities in Victoria Falls will be at your own cost. Experience white water rafting, river boarding, tandem kayaking and bungee jumping as well as sightseeing flights over the falls by helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft or micro light.

Comfortable pontoon boats take guest out onto the Zambezi River where you can enjoy and appreciate the unspoiled beauty of this lovely stretch of river. Feel its peace and serenity while you enjoy a drink, cast a line or raise your binoculars to the passing array of animals and birds.

Day 14: Lion Walk, Zimbabwe

After breakfast, depart for lion walk in Zimbabwe. Return to Victoria Falls on Zambian side afternoon.

Day 15: Victoria Falls – Botswana

Depart Victoria Falls for Okavango Delta, Kanana Mokoro Trail. Drive to Kanana Camp, from where you will board your mokoro and glide peacefully out into one of the most remote areas of the Delta. On a secluded island, you will find your rustic bush camp where friendly staff wait ready to welcome you with a refreshing cool drink.

After an introduction to the region by your guide and host, it will be time to venture out onto the papyrus lined waterways, to begin your exploration of this diverse environment, as your mokoro guide points out some of the inhabitants of this fascinating world including red lechwe antelope, fish eagles, painted reed frogs, golden orb spiders and tiny malachite kingfishers.

Upon returning to camp, a piping hot shower under the stars awaits. Iced drinks and a three-course dinner follows, and then you gather around a blazing campfire listening to your hosts tell tall tales of their time in the wild.

In additional to walks, guests can also participate in some fishing from mokoro for bream, pike and silver catfish. The camp is equipped with fishing rods and spinning lures.

Day 16: Okavango Delta

After a light breakfast, your guides will lead your mokoro out exploring this wonderland of islands that provides a seasonal haven to upwards of forty species of large mammals, including the rarely seen sitatunga.

As the day warms up, you can retreat to your private island to enjoy a cooling drink, and a lazy lunch, followed by some siesta time in your hammock. In the late afternoon, you will continue your journey of discovery with a walk on an island – searching the canopies of African Ebony, and Mangosteen trees for the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl. The walk is combined with more time in the mokoro.

Day 17: Okavango Delta/ Maun Airport

After an early morning activity and breakfast, and after bidding farewell to your hosts, you will transfer by mokoro to Kanana Camp and then transfer to Maun Airport.
