Day 1: Nairobi

Welcome for your holiday in Kenya! Our Kenyan representative will receive you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer you to Southern Sun Mayfair Hotel in the serene suburb of Westlands for overnight on bed and breakfast.

Day 2: Nairobi – Masai Mara

After breakfast, depart Nairobi and start your Kenya safari expedition in the jewel of Kenya’s parks, the world famous Masai Mara Game (Wildlife) Reserve. Full of life with various types of animals and birds, Masai Mara crown’s the climax of every safari in Kenya. Its rolling grasslands and acacia savannah have time and again been captured on film with the movie “Out Of Africa" being the most famous.

Masai Mara is home to the “Big Five" (Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino) and over 450 bird species. Apart from the big five, the Masai Mara is most famous for the spectacular annual migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra, gazelle etc from the Serengeti in northern Tanzania crossing the Mara River into Kenya in search of fresh feeding grounds, which takes place between July and October. During this crossing, hundreds of animals are swept away by the first moving Mara River and others are killed by the ferocious African Crocodiles. This crossing gives true meaning to the phrase “Survival of the fittest".

After lunch, head out with your driver/guide for afternoon game drives in search of the shy and elusive leopard, other wild animals and over 450 species of birds of which 57 species are birds of prey. As the sunset starts to edge dip into the African horizon it will be the perfect opportunity for you to capture the beautiful Mara landscape on film. After dinner, enjoy the warmth of the roaring log fire before going to bed under the star filled African sky.

Day 3-4 Masai Mara Game Reserve

Spend the next two full days on early morning game drives before dawn, followed by breakfast upon your return to the camp. After breakfast you can go swimming in the pool under the African sun or just sit back and relax for the rest of the day. In the afternoon we return to the bush in search of wildlife, such as Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, elephants, lions, and the solitary and ill-tempered Rhino, among others.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru

After an early breakfast, you begin your safari to Lake Nakuru, with a stopover at Lake Naivasha, the only freshwater lake in the Rift Valley. From the top of the Rift Valley escarpment, you can see the lake sparkling under the sun thousands of feet below you. The lake is home to a large colony of hippos and it’s also a Mecca for bird watchers and researchers since over 400 different species of birds have been recorded here. An optional boat ride will be a good ideal.

After a brief stopover, you travel in a northerly direction to your next destination Lake Nakuru, which is usually dotted with pink flamingoes lining its shores. After checking in and having lunch at the lodge, you set off to Lake Nakuru for extensive game drives where you can expect to see leopards, lions, giraffes, a million or so of pink flamingoes as well as black or white Rhinos.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Samburu

After an early breakfast bid farewell to Lake Nakuru as you drive heading eastwards en route Samburu Game Reserve. Make a brief stopover at Nyahururu Falls, still known to many as Thomsons Falls for its 237ft cascade. After the stopover, you drive northward through Nanyuki town, crossing the northernmost foothills of Mount Kenya, until you reach Isiolo town and then down into the thorny landscape of Samburu country.

After lunch in your lodge, set off for afternoon game drives in the park. This area boosts of unique northern species of wildlife which are not found in any other part south of equator, here you will find the Grevy zebra, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, the long necked gerenuk, herds of elephants and their predators abound. The life-giving Uaso Nyiro River plays a major role in the ecosystem of this region.

Day 7: Samburu

Before dawn you head out in search of Africa’s wild cats. After the game drive, you return to the lodge for breakfast and some R&R “rest and relaxation", read a book/novel, sunbathe or perhaps go for a refreshing dip in the uniquely designed swimming pool. After lunch, set off for afternoon game drives till sun set.

Day 8: Samburu – Sweetwaters (Mount Kenya)

After breakfast, depart for Sweetwaters Tented Camp located in the exclusive Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Mt Kenya region. Lunch at your camp. You can do day and night game drives around the private conservancy, which is home for the members of the “Big Five” (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard). The conservancy has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya. At the forefront of the Kenyan conservancy programme, the conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species.

Day 9: Mt Kenya – Aberdares

After breakfast, depart for Aberdares National Park. Access to the park with private vehicles is limited to conserve and protect the environment, which hosts wildlife such as elephant, rhino, buffalo, bush bucks, giant forest hogs, Sykes monkey, leopard, and bongo. On arrival at the Aberdare Country Club, you’ll have lunch (cost included) and in the afternoon, you’ll be transferred to The Ark Game Lodge in the lodge’s vehicle. This tree-lodge is uniquely shaped to resemble the actual Ark, designed with decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for viewing the animals visiting the salt-lick and waterhole. A ground-level bunker at The Ark provides excellent photographic opportunities, and the Yasabara waterhole is floodlit by night to enable all-night viewing of game.

Day 10: Aberdares – Nairobi – Amboseli

After breakfast, a driver of The Ark Lodge will transfer you back to The Aberdare Country Club where you’ll reconnect with your driver/guide and then depart for Amboseli National Park. Buy packed lunch in Nairobi. Beautifully situated beneath the foot of Africa’s highest mountain Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895m), Amboseli National Park is well renowned for its huge herds of elephants and various types of other Savannah wildlife such as Giraffes, Bushbuck’s, Kudu, Warthog’s, Zebra’s and over 425 species of birds recorded here.

The snowcapped peak of Kilimanjaro rising above white clouds dominates every aspect of Amboseli and forms a backdrop to an impressive display of wildlife attracted to this location by swamps and springs fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro melting snow. Amboseli was the location around which such famous writers like Sir Ernest Hemingway and Robert Ruark tailored their stories of big game hunting in the wilds of Africa. Enjoy a game drive en-route your lodge.

Day 11: Amboseli

A dawn game drive will be the perfect time for photographing the humbling and magnificent Mt. Kilimanjaro the highest peak in Africa. You return to the lodge for breakfast and some R&R “rest and relaxation", sunbathing, swimming or for those of you reading enthusiasts, you can read the day away in the well-stocked library with a relaxing view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. After lunch, set out for afternoon game drives till sunset.

Day 12: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you depart Amboseli National Park through the Shaitani lava plateau to the legendary land of the “Man-Eaters" – Tsavo National Park. Enjoy your lunch at your lodge before another exciting game drive in the park. The 21,000 sq km park is one of the largest in the whole world. This wilderness is home too over 1000 plant species, 400 bird species and more than 60 major mammal species such as lions, huge herds of buffalo, the solitary and ill-tempered Rhino and at least 7000 elephants.

The park is the location of Africa’s most famous adventure story “Man eaters of Tsavo", in which two lions where responsible for eating over 500 workers who where building the Uganda railway also known as the “Lunatic Line " by it’s opponents in the British Parliament in 1898. The story was made famous in the 1996 movie “The Ghost and the Darkness."

Day 13: Tsavo West – Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

After breakfast, drive to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Arrive at Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge, located in the heart of the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary off Voi town, before lunch. All rooms overlook a waterhole and are linked by suspended walkways.

At night, the waterhole is floodlit ensuring that guests enjoy an uninterrupted view of the daily procession of thirsty wildlife that comes to water at the waterhole.

Day 14: Taita Hills – Mombasa

After breakfast, depart for Mombasa and proceed to Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort in Mombasa. You’ll enjoy the longest seafront on the North Coast of Mombasa, which boasts one of the finest beaches in East Africa. Accommodation here will be based on half board (breakfast and dinner).

Day 15-16 Mombasa

The perfect destination to relax and unwind under the tropical sun and the coconut palm trees in the Indian Ocean beach. Here you have lots of options like visit the National Museum, sunbathing on the beautiful beaches, visit the Marine Parks, participating in the various water sports, snorkeling, Buccaneer diving, touring Mombasa town as well as shopping. All activities at Mombasa can be arranged through your hotel at your own cost.

Day 17: Mombasa – Nairobi – Fly Home

Transfer to Moi International Airport to catch your Kenya Airways flight to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. You’ll then connect your international flight home.
